Maureen Butterfield Howe

Maureen Butterfield Howe passed away at her home in Hyrum, after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, the 4th of January 2014. She and her twin sister, Kathleen, were born to Warren Ralph Butterfield and Venice Budge Butterfield on August 15, 1961 at Fort Gordon, Georgia. She was the fifth of six children in her family. She attended various schools in California, Hawaii, Idaho, and Utah as her family moved from place to place due to her father being a member of the US Army. Maureen married Richard James Howe on September 1, 1978 in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. They are the parents of three daughters: Cinthia, Michele, and Sarah and grandparents of four granddaughters: Heaven, Taylor, Riley, and Bailey. They lived in California until 2005 when they moved to Utah. Maureen was preceded in death by both of her parents; her parents-in-law; her brother-in-law, Claude Hardesty; nephew, Kenny Hall; brother-in-law, John Howe; and brother-in-law, Brad Johnson. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Richard. Her daughters: Cinthia Lyster of Hyrum, Utah, Michele (Scott) Logan of Hyrum, Utah, and Sarah (Michael) Wierman of North Logan, Utah. She is also survived by her granddaughters: Heaven Lyster, Taylor and Bailey Logan, and Riley Wierman. Maureen will be greatly missed by her brothers: Mike Butterfield of Grass Valley, California and Brian Butterfield, of Santa Rosa, California; and her sisters: Karen (Doug) Doorman of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Kathleen Johnson of Nibley, Utah, and Elaine (David) Webb of Logan, Utah; and by her sister-in-law, Judy Hardesty of Hyrum, Utah; along with many nieces and nephews and other extended family. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to all whom have provided loving kindness and assistance to Maureen in her battle against cancer. You have been mortal angels and have given much comfort during this difficult time. Services for Maureen will be held at the LDS chapel located at 95 North 675 West, in Hyrum, Utah on Wednesday January 8th, 2014 at 12:00 pm. Services will be conducted by Bishop Wayne Jorgensen. There will be a viewing for family and friends immediately prior to the funeral service at 11:00 am at the chapel. Interment will be at the Hyrum Cemetery.
