Our beautiful daughter, sister, wife, and mother, Melinda Deanne “Mindy” Hefner Batie, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 19, 2026, after a courageous three-year battle with glioblastoma. Throughout her journey, Mindy faced each day with remarkable strength, grace, and an unwavering faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ. Though treatments were difficult, she never lost her quick wit, her bright smile, or her ability to bring light to those around her.

Mindy was born May 6, 1965, in Portland, Oregon, to James Nicholas Hefner, Sr. and Leslie Jane Jollie Hefner. As the daughter of an Air Force serviceman, she spent part of her childhood moving between states, including time in Arizona and Oregon during her father’s Vietnam service. In 1974, the family settled in Utah, where Mindy built lifelong friendships she treasured deeply. Friends and family say that she laughed with abandon, was passionate, genuine and cherished her friends.

She graduated from Roy High School and went on to build a career marked by dedication, loyalty, and excellence. After being hired by Intermountain Healthcare she worked in Supply Chain for the rest of her career. She started as a buyer, then was transferred to the Contracts department as a Contract Specialist. Even during her illness, Mindy continued to work whenever she was able, meeting each challenge with determination and quiet strength. Her customers loved her as she always ended her calls with “Have a blessed day!”

Mindy was a devoted mother to her son, Marcus, and worked tirelessly to provide for and care for him. In 2005, she married the love of her life, Brian Batie, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. She warmly embraced Brian’s son, Devan, who is currently serving in the United States Navy.

Mindy found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful traditions. She loved time spent at the family cabin and participating in Mountain Man Rendezvous events. She had a special flair for creativity with her love of beading and jewelry making. She also loved to travel, and one of her most cherished experiences was walking in the Holy Land where Jesus walked. Her trip to Hawaii to visit family was another treasured memory.

Her faith was a guiding light in her life and she felt deeply connected to her church family and found great joy in worship and fellowship. She donated generously to her church and other charities and participated in many giving opportunities especially during the Christmas season.

Mindy is survived by her loving husband, Brian Andrew Batie; her sons, Marcus Garrison Hefner and Devan Tyler Batie (Bernardo); her mother, Leslie Jollie Hefner; her aunt Justine Bunnell, her brother, James Nicholas Hefner Jr. (Kenna); her sister, Ashleigh Hefner Peterson (Telyn); her stepmother, Deb Hefner Hansen (Lynn); Mother and father in law; Donald and Sylvia Batie, Sisters in-law, Dawna Angus and Nancy Gough (Justin), her nieces, nephews, aunts uncles, extended family members; her dear friends Ronnie and Brian Bobo, Patty Rozinka; and her beloved dogs: Manna, Harvey, Lily and Ellie. She was preceded in death by her father, James Nicholas Hefner Sr, her grandparents, Brother in law and sister in law Warren and Vicki Batie.

A viewing will be held Friday at Calvary Church, 460 W. Century Drive in Murray, at 5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM. Interment will take place at a later date at Farmington City Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her beloved father. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Mindy’s memory with a donation to Calvary Church, a place that was deeply meaningful to her or her favorite charity, Wounded Warrior Project.
