Merrell R Wiley, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, returned to his Father in Heaven on June 30, 2006 at home while surrounded by loved ones.
Merrell was born in Lynndyl, Utah on September 24, 1923 to Robert Andrew and Estella Anderson Wiley.
Merrell married Fern Gull on December 30, 1942 in Provo, Utah. Fern passed away on December 29, 1971. They were sealed in the Provo Temple on January 23, 1973. He married Virginia Cox Steele on August 24, 1979. She passed away on January 31, 2004
Merrell is a member of the LDS Church and holds the office of High Priest.
He is survived by his five children: Michael Merrell Wiley (Carol) of Provo; Kay Brown (Gary) of Orem, Lydia Foot (Terry) of Central Valley; Pamela Smith (Gene) of Orem; Kevin Gull Wiley (Laurina) of American Fork; Four brothers - LaVell Wiley of Orem, Ronald Wiley of Springville, Byron Wiley of Provo, and Lanny Wiley of Provo; Thirty-four grandchildren, and sixty great-grandchildren.
Merrell was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, and three brothers: Elaine Wiley, LaVon Wiley, and Garth Wiley.
Merrell served in the United States Armed Forces in the Navy on the USS Herriman in WWII. He is a decorated veteran. Because he volunteered to serve his country, he was honored with his High School Diploma at South Sevier High School a few years ago. After returning from his service he worked for Geneva Steel, retiring after 30 years. He also worked for Springville City as a Meter Reader for several years.
The most important thing in his life was his family. He liked hunting, fishing, working in the yard, and prospecting.
He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 11:00 am in the Orem 7th Ward Chapel at 365 South 900 East, Orem, Utah. There will be a viewing from 10 - 10:45 am.
Thank you to 1st Choice Hospice and to all health care providers who gave such wonderful care to our father over the last several years.
