Mildred Allen Roberts

Millie Hall (Mildred Maude Allen Hall Roberts) was a beacon of strength, love, and kindness. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at her home in Sandy, Utah. She leaves an unforgettable mark here as she travels on to meet family and friends who have gone before her. She was 102.

Born on March 14, 1923 in Berryville, Arkansas, to Matt and Ella Willhite Allen, Millie was the sixth of nine siblings, and the last of them to pass away. During the Great Depression, when Millie was eight, the family moved West to Manzanola, Colorado, and later settled in the farmlands surrounding Twin Falls, Idaho.

Millie came from an incredibly hardworking family and leaves behind a legacy of love, unwavering strength, and unstoppable resilience. She lived life to the fullest and had a profound commitment to her family, always putting them first. She was the glue that will forever hold the family together. She was the beautiful and generous matriarch – a mentor, advocate, listener, and a great friend to many.

She married Bill U. Hall in 1942 and eventually came to Utah where she helped build and support his construction company and raised their five children, including two sets of twins. They built their unique Sandy home using only hand tools in the early-1950's and it became a wonderful gathering place for family and friends for decades to come.

Together with relatives, neighbors, and friends, they loved to camp, fish, and hunt. She was an avid angler, and spent much time exploring the West and Old Mexico. She enjoyed nothing more than being with her sisters, especially if they were fishing.

"The girls" were a raucous bunch and made everyone laugh. Millie inspired us all with her kindness and unconditional love. She took care of everybody, helped raise many of her grandchildren, and always offered a stay in her home to relatives or friends if they needed a place to land, whether it was for a few days or many months. If you were lucky enough to sit with her at her kitchen counter, you felt loved and appreciated in her presence. She was open-minded, perceptive, and empathetic. And she was funny!

She was married to Hugh Roberts when she was in her sixties, and she continued to be very active in later life, regularly dancing, bowling, swimming, crafting, and gardening. She loved her flowers and her dogs. She was full of positivity and she believed in people's potential to be and do good. How did she live so long? It was her community of family and friends, and in her last years, especially her dear friend, Janet Van Gelder.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Lester, Jewel, and Herb; sisters, Effie Miller, Lillian Castle, Gladys McFarland, Mattie Grigg, and Maxine Alloway; and her two husbands.

She is survived by her five, dedicated children who spoke to her every day: Jeanie Hall Hottinger (Ralph, 1942-2023), Janie Hall Coleman (Sam), Pamela Parry (Doug), Tamela Hall Lee (Don, DOD - 2023), and Billy M. Hall (Dyann).

She had nine grandchildren: Christine Coleman, Rory Hall, Melissa Hall, Katie Hottinger (1974-2009), Maryanne Hottinger Maston, Shane Parry, Scott Parry, Alicia Parry, and Jessica Parry Jacobsen. She also had twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, including Benjamin Rose; Eli Dickey; Tucker and Taya Hall Addison Larsen; Emma and Cayden Maston; Makinlee and Makelle Parry; Aiden Parry; and Stiles and Krew Jacobsen.

In the end, she rested quietly in her beloved home of 75 years with family by her side. Her passing marks the end of an era, and she will be deeply missed. The world was a brighter place with her light in it.

A celebration of Millie’s life will be announced and posted at a later date.
