Norman Todd Bates

In the early morning of August 27, 2015, N. Todd Bates, surrounded by his loving and caring family, left the hunting grounds on earth, when he finally lost his courageous and amazing fight with cancer, to follow the trails and tracks into heaven. He was born on October 31, 1971. His parents are "Mom" Sharon and David Burland and "Dad" Norman C. Bates. He was raised in Utah and graduated in 1990 from Woods Cross High School. He also attended classes at Weber State University. N Todd Bates had an array of jobs from washing UPS trucks, building houses, and driving many different kinds of trucks. He excelled at whatever it was he was doing. However, in January of 2004 he found his career with the Big West Oil Company, where he had become an Operator. His passions included, first and foremost, his amazing wife Amy of 11 years, to whom he wed in May 2004, and their handsome blessing, their son, Grady Todd, born January 2013. However his second passion was the outdoors, whether it be fishing of any kind, to hunting big game preferably a bow in his hand. N Todd Bates was an extraordinary man. He was a husband, daddy, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, son-in-law, brother-in-law, and friend. Everyone that had the great opportunity to meet Todd and know him, are truly blessed. He was deeply loved and cared for by all that knew him. We are all better human beings for having someone such as him in our lives. He is survived by his loving wife, Amy; son, Grady Todd; parents: "Mom" Sharon and David Burland and "Dad" Norman C. Bates; sisters: Shauna (Jason) Feil, Amanda (Brian) Farrell, and Carlie (Bryan) Boyce; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; Mother-, Father-, sister-, and brothers-in-law; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his Grandpa and Grandma Hammer, and Grandpa and Grandma Bates. The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the Canyon Hospice and their employees for the over the top and amazing care given to Todd and his family in this difficult time. They would also like to make a personal thank you to Parker, who was his hospice nurse. With your loving, caring, endearing passion, you made his final weeks memorable and easier. Thank you to Big West Oil who was Todd's family away from home for 11 years, for all the support you have given him and his family from day one. Thank you everyone that has been involved in everything from the yard sales to the labor of love and all of the wonderful donations made. Our deepest and most wonderful "Thank You" goes out to everyone for everything you all have done. In lieu of flowers, it is Todd's and the family's request to do two things, "Pay it Forward" and "JUST LIVE." The Celebration of Todd's life will begin on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Riverdale City Civic Complex located at 4600 Weber River Drive, Riverdale, Utah, between the hours of 6:30 PM and 9:00 PM. It will continue with graveside services on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the West Haven City Cemetery, 1550 South 2350 West, West Haven, Utah. A Procession will begin at the home of Todd and Amy Bates, 2911 West 2900 South, West Haven, Utah at approximately 10:00 AM. Todd's final request to his friends and family attending, the attire to be worn should be Camo or Colors and Comfortable. There will be a Celebration of Life Party following the Graveside services at the home of Jeff and Lindie Fuller, 102 North 6700 West, West Warren, Utah. Everyone is welcome, the more the merrier.
