Paloma Meyers

On the evening of July 12, 2006, at her home in Orem, Paloma Martineau Meyers passed quietly from her mortal life into eternity. She leaves a legacy of faith in Jesus Christ and of service in His cause that her family will always cherish. She was met on the other side by her beloved and eternal companion, John Henry Meyers. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gregory, by her parents, Frank and Glenna Martineau, her brothers, Ardway and Kent, and her sister Elaine McCleskey. Born November 20, 1917 in Thatcher, Arizona, Paloma grew up in the Los Angeles area of Southern California. She served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New England from 1939 to 1941. She and John were married for all eternity on March 27, 1942, in the Mesa, Arizona, temple. Following John's service in WWII, they lived in Moscow Idaho, then in Idaho Falls, and finally, in 1954, they moved to California to raise their family of six children in Fullerton. They were both instrumental in the growth and strength of the Church in the Orange County area for many years. Paloma was a gifted and effective teacher. Her insights and testimony blessed generations of children and adults. She was a faithful and active visiting teacher until the time of her death. She served as an ordinance worker in the Los Angeles and the Mt. Timpanogos temples. She was a devoted and generous homemaker and created a safe and nurturing environment wherever she went. She was a friend to everyone she knew, and her many unseen acts of kindness and love would fill volumes. She is truly a beloved and noble woman, and she will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to be part of her life. It will be her legacy forever that: "We do not doubt our mother knew it." Four sons and one daughter survive Paloma: John and Robyn Meyers of Yorba Linda, California; Kent and Marilyn Meyers of Franklin, Massachusetts; Jeffrey and Dallas Meyers of Elk Ridge, Utah; Jeralyn and Dennis Lambourne of Brea, California; Eric and Elizabeth Meyers of Provo, Utah. She leaves 30 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Lennox and Calleen Martineau of Provo. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 17, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. in the Cherry Hills 3rd LDS Ward Chapel, 1650 S. 200 E. in Orem. A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2006, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the chapel. Internment at Rose Hills Cemetery, Whittier, California.
