On June 16, 2025, Paul Matthew Tingey graduated from this earthly life, leaving behind a legacy of love toward his family and friends. Paul was born on March 27, 1978 in Santa Rosa, California and is the son of Lamont Dale Tingey and Lawana Call Tingey of Fruit Heights, Utah. A little over a year later Paul was sealed to his parents in the Oakland California Temple.
Paul loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking. He also loved learning about nearly anything, but especially about history, space, and wildlife. He was a very talented artist, which led him to drawing many tattoos in his life and even starting his own tattoo business. His greatest love was that of being with his nieces and nephews. At family gatherings, Paul was most often found making the nieces and nephews smile and laugh. He often would give everything he had to the kids – often times leaving him with little or nothing left. His love for others was immense, genuine, and constant.
Paul graduated with a welding degree and became a very skilled welder, even obtaining eight different welding certifications. He later changed professions and began working as a heavy equipment operator. He loved his new job because, as he once said, he was getting paid to play with big Tonka toys.
Paul was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called and served as a young men’s leader and loved every bit of it – especially the campouts and hikes. The young men knew he loved and cared for them. And they loved him too. We will miss him dearly – his laughter, his light, and his love. We feel great peace in our hearts and know that he is in our Heavenly Father’s hands. We are grateful he will be watching over us and his nieces and nephews. Surely, many are rejoicing he has returned home and have welcomed him on the other side with open arms.
He is survived by his parents, and his siblings – Marc Tingey (Emily) of Farmington, Utah; Kaylene Frogley (Mike) of South Jordan, Utah; and Jared Tingey (Sydney) of Fruit Heights, Utah. He is also survived by his favorites – his nieces and nephews: Kylie, Carter, Tanner, Daxton, Kyla, Stratton, Gracelyn, Madelyn, Zachary, and Tate.
Please come and join us for a celebration of his life. A viewing will be held Monday, June 23rd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, June 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Funeral services will follow, beginning that same Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. Both the viewing and funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints chapel, located at 901 South Mountain Road in Fruit Heights, Utah.
