Phyllis Darlene Smith, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother slipped away peacefully, after an extended illness, on December 4, 2006 while holding hands with her eternal companion of 53 years. Born on September 8, 1932 in Bakersfield, Calif. a daughter of Clinton Leon Painter and Erva Dalley. Erva passed away in 1942 and Anna Mae Painter became her mother in 1944.
Phyllis graduated from Seaside High School, Seaside Oregon. She served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and during that time she met and married David Kent Smith in Bakersfield, Calif., December 26, 1953. They sealed their love for each other for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on December 12, 1959. Her talent with the accordion and organ has entertained many throughout the years. She was a member of the Wilson First Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was in charge of the Ward Bulletin. Over the years she served in many church callings and was awarded a certificate for 20 years service in the Primary. She also served in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Surviving are two daughters and one son, Jeanice Watts of Kaysville, Susan Smith and Wesley Smith of Ogden, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her mother, Anna Mae Painter and one brother, Bud (Norma) Painter, Seaside, Oregon. Preceded in death by her father Clinton Leon Painter, mother Erva Dalley and older brother Norman Clare Painter. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Wilson 1st. Ward, 2333 S 2700 W. West Haven, UT. Friends and family may call prior to the service from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. SereniCare, Funeral Directors.
Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, in Bluffdale, Utah.
