Prudence Ilene Curtarelli Scheib passed away peacefully, at the age of 93 on March 15, 2026 in Willard, Utah.

Born on May 10, 1932 in Olympia, Washington, Prudy was raised by her mother and father, Irene and Ragle Thornton as the second born of six siblings. She often shared many loving memories of growing up having a special relationship with her Grandma Maude. Reflecting their special relationship, she would often echo “Grammas are important.”

There is nobody stronger than Prudy. The way she carried herself, one would never know that she has been through more heartache than one should have to. She was married briefly to Herman Lee Clay (1952-1961) before he suddenly and tragically passed away just a short time after the loss of their son, Michael Lee in 1953. Prudy was lucky enough to find love and companionship a second time and married Gary Allan Scheib. They made their home in Davis County, Utah. Her home was always a place of comfort, laughter and love. She enjoyed cooking savory meals that brought everyone to the table and there was definitely no shortage of candy and cookies at Gramma’s house!

Prudy enjoyed her work and lifelong friendships made along the way at JCP. She retired in 2012 at the age of 80.

After retirement, she had to stay busy, so she spent her time volunteering at Lakeview Hospital. Her warmth and joy attracted even more lifelong friends. She deservingly earned Volunteer of the Year in 2019.

Prudy had the perfect blend of sass and sarcasm. When asked how she was doing, she would consistently reply “Fat and sassy!” She had a way of speaking her mind with humor and heart, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She held a few titles throughout her life, but her most devoted title was “Gramma.” She was always our biggest fan, loved us beyond measure and she will forever be our fiercest protector. It’s hard to imagine our life without her by our side. She taught us all so many important lessons through the years, even in her final moments.

Alongside her family, she enjoyed cooking, crochet, puzzles, games, crafting, gardening and of course, shopping. Grampa would always say “She has to touch everything in the store!”

Prudy spent her final years in the warmth of family. She was lovingly cared for by her granddaughters Melissa and Megan and her grandson (in-law) Shawn and she was constantly surrounded by her great-grandchildren. They were her biggest fans and they were the light of her life. She delighted in every hug, laugh and moments of sarcasm with them. When she departed us, she did so peacefully, with of us all by her side-such a beautiful reflection of the love she gave throughout her life.

Gramma, it was our highest honor to care for you as you once cared for us and given the chance, we would do it all over again!

She is now joyfully reuniting with her 5 siblings, her husband and many more.

She reluctantly left behind her grandchildren; Melissa and Shawn Hislop, Megan Clay, and her cherished great-grandchildren; Brooklyn Hislop, Westin Hislop and Sadie Hislop.

Prudy will be forever remembered by her vibrant spirit, her deep warmth, and the joy she brought into every room. Her life was a blessing, and her memory will be cherished.

Since Prudy was always the life of a party, we are having a party to celebrate her on May 16, 2026 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at Palmer Barn Event Center 683 N Main Street, Willard Utah 84340 where friends and family are invited to gather for a light lunch and mingling, followed by an “Open Heart Mic” to share stories, laughter and of course, a little sass in honor of Prudy’s unforgettable spirit.
