Richard Alan Coon

Richard Alan Coon passed away the morning of August 2, 2006. He had been in a coma since July 24, 2006 due to an anoxic brain injury. Richard had just returned from Marine boot camp, bought a new bullet bike and was busy catching up with all of his friends and family. Richard was born April 23, 1985 in Murray, Utah. He lived in Murray and Riverton all his life. He attended Horizon Elementary and Southland Elementary School, Oquirrh Hills Middle School, and Riverton, Valley and Southpointe High Schools. He graduated from Southpointe. His dream was to be a Marine and in May 2006, left for San Diego to pursue that dream. Richard had many friends and loved hanging out with them. He loved riding his bullet bike, he loved fishing and boating with his friends, and he loved being around his family. One of his favorite trips was a recent cruise to the Mexican Riviera with his family. Richard loved working with his Dad in their book fair business and enjoyed his association with his clients. Richard is survived by his parents, Richard Lynn and Susan Ellsworth Coon; his brother, Jared Arnold Coon; his sisters, Michelle and Nicole Coon; his grandparents, Arnold T. and Jean A. Ellsworth, William A. Coon, Jr.; his aunts, Marsha (Bob) Turner, Rosalie Ellsworth, and Joan (Rob) Birch; his uncles, Bill (Marsha) Coon, George (Debi) Coon and Larry Coon. He is also survived by many loving cousins and extended family members. We would like to thank all the many doctors and nurses in the Shock/Trauma ICU at LDS Hospital for their loving care of Richard. Also the paramedics from Riverton and the ER staff from Jordan Valley Hospital. We would especially like to thank the Palliative Care staff for their tender care for Richard in his last few days. All of you have made this difficult situation bearable because of your tender, loving attention to our son. Words cannot express our appreciation. Funeral services for Richard will be held Monday, August 7, 2006 at the Mindi Meadows LDS Chapel at 13400 S. 2700 W. at 11 am. A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2006 at the church from 6-8 pm, and then again on Monday from 10 - 10:45 am. Richard will be buried in Riverton City Cemetary.
