Richard "Rusty" Myron Mayhew

Richard "Rusty" Myron Mayhew, son of Myron Hesford Mayhew and Betty Lou Anderson, and Brother of Scott Mason Mayhew, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at age 56. Rusty was born on February 21, 1956 in Glendale, CA. He graduated from Covina High School in 1974. In 1980 he began his career as a union apprentice brick layer with his father in-law, Cliff Whitehead. After three years, he worked his way up to the position of journeyman and continued his work as a brick mason at US Borax for JT Thorp and Recon, working at various locations throughout California, Arizona, and New Mexico. Rusty enjoyed many activities outside of work including cooking, billiards, fishing, vacations to Lake Shasta and State Line, spending time with family, sport shooting, and watching the Lakers and the Diamondbacks. He was very adventurous in his younger years and tried things such as white water rafting, horseback riding and playing organized baseball. He is survived by his daughter Tarah J. Blazek, son in-law Brett Blazek, son Russ M. Mayhew, daughter in-law Jaszmine Mayhew and his grandchildren Maliya, Macin and Taven. He had family by his bedside telling stories, giving thanks, and reminiscing the night before and morning of his passing. He was a great man that will certainly be missed.
