Richard Ralph Anderson

Listen to Obituary

Richard Ralph Anderson was born on April 12, 1934 to Richard Alfred Anderson and Annis Clare Van Cleve in Helena, Montana. He grew up hunting, fishing, and enjoying nature, and never lost his love for those things. His love for the Boy Scouts of America programs went hand in hand with his other loves. He spent many years teaching boys to fish and camp and earn merit badges, and was given several of the BSA's highest awards.

He spent much of his life working with his hands, from carpentry and kitchen remodels to stained glass. He was honored to contribute some of his stained glass work to a few LDS temples over the years. He also loved inventing tools and mechanisms, and had a creative mind to find solutions to problems he encountered in his work and play.

He was married to Donna Lee Hill, with whom he had three children. After they divorced, he married Lois Hill and had one more daughter before divorcing in 1991. He found the love of his life in Joyce Johnson, who died from complications of cancer in 2007, and then a friend and companion in Cleora Olsson. She was his best friend until he died, April 21, 2026, at the age of 92.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Arnold (Arnie), his daughter Tracey, and his wife Joyce. He is survived by his son Gregg, his daughters Tara and Jennifer, and his three sisters, Marge, Karen, and Linda, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren to carry on his legacy.

There will be a memorial service to honor Richard on Saturday, May 2 at 11:00 a.m. at 220 W 200 S, Lehi, Utah.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides of Active Hospice, who tirelessly served and cared for Richard during his last months of life.
