Richard Dale Willes Wilson, 73, returned home to his Heavenly Father on April 21, 2007 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Richard was born on July 22, 1933 in Los Angeles, California to the late Ross Claude Willes and June Buys Wilson. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and later returned to Vietnam as a television war correspondent. He was also a legislative reporter for KSL-TV in the mid 1970's.
Richard was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Stake Mission President, Bishop, High Councilman, gospel doctrine teacher and faithful home teacher.
Richard graduated from Harvard Business School's Management program. He was a successful management consultant and owned his own firm for 33 years.
Of all his accomplishments, none is greater than marrying his beloved eternal companion Nancy Colby Wilson and raising his family to know, love and serve God.
He is survived by their children Tracey (Joel) Christensen, Mysti (Sifa) Tupou, and Tiffany K. Wilson; and his children Chris (Lisa) Wilson, Jenny (Bill) Palmer, Janie (John) Sheridan, Matt (Nadia) Wilson, Dixie (Brian) Burdon and Mark (Tracy) Wilson; and 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his mother, June Wilson and siblings Wayne (Kay) Wilson, Lowell Wilson and Kathleen (Brad) Windsor. He will be missed by nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends and business associates.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Lakeview Stake Center at 1750 South 400 West in Orem. Family and friends are welcome at a 9:30 a.m. viewing until the hour of services.
A memorial fund has been set up in Richard's name at Utah Community Credit Union.
