Rona Lea Sirrine Johnston was born on August 4, 1953, in Salina, Utah, to Patricia Jean Bullock and George Keith Sirrine. She was the second of their seven children. Rona passed away on October 29, 2026.
Rona graduated from Brigham Young University in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in special education. She devoted much of her life to her family and raising her children. Later in life, she had the opportunity to work at a school for youth with special needs, where she was a light to the students and colleagues she worked with.
A gifted teacher and leader, Rona loved learning, studying, and sharing what she learned with others. In Texas, she taught early-morning seminary to high school students. Throughout the many states she lived in, she served in several Relief Society and Young Women presidencies in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Of all her callings, her favorite was teaching Relief Society. Rona loved the gospel and loved sharing it.
Rona had a natural ability to love and serve. She treated those she knew and met with compassion and kindness, and will be remembered for the warmth and care she shared.
She is survived by her six children: Adrienne (Chad), Andrea (Mike), Bre (Josh), Brett (Alayna), Brenden (Priscila), and Cassie; 21 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her family will cherish her memory and the love she gave so freely.
A viewing will be held on November 10 at 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 12:00 p.m. at the chapel at 2400 N. University Park Blvd., Layton, Utah. Rona will be interred in Mesa, Arizona.
