Ronald Dale Greer

Ronald Dale Greer, Our friend, dad, grandpa, brother and son passed away on 27 April 2015 after a long, courageous fight with cancer. Ron was born on 22 April 1955 to Glenda Lankford and Loren Greer in Nampa, Idaho. He served an LDS Mission to Portland, Oregon. He graduated with his B.S and M.S. from Utah State University and had "the BEST Job in the World" with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources as a Habitat Biologist. Ron loved the outdoors and wildlife was his passion. He loved to share the beauty of a sunset, the magical air dance of short eared owls, shapes in the clouds, thunder and lightening, wolves in the wild, hiking, the drum of a ruffed grouse, fishing, the dance of the sharp-tailed grouse, breath taking vistas, hunting, big campfires, the bugle of the elk and the buzz of a rattle snake. His love of his children and grandchildren were immeasurable. Holding a grandchild and teasing his children brought him pure happiness. He has many whom called him brother and to that he was true. He had a true belief in our Christ Jesus and our Heavenly Father. Ron's love of life was reflected in his eyes. My friend, I love you and miss you. Your passing has left a void in our hearts and the universe. The smell of sage brush after a summer rain, a walk in the tall grasses, the hugging tree and laying in wildflowers will never be the same. Ron is survived by his wife, Jolene Rose; his children: Angela Greer Douglas of Las Vegas, Joshua (Kimberly) Greer, Brandon (Laura) Greer, Brittany (Trent) Smart, Kimberly (Reggie) Gunnell, Tyrell (Nikki) Greer, Duncan Greer of New York, Dillon Greer, and step-son, Preston Hatch. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren; his mother, Glenda Greer of Nibley; and four brothers: Steve (Carol) Greer of Preston, Kevin (Alecia) Greer of Perry, Brent (Jalee) Greer of Nibley, Brad (Lori) Greer of Smithfield. Preceded in death by his father, Loren Dale Greer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Hyrum 14th Ward Chapel, 176 South 1300 East Hyrum, Utah. Friends may visit with family at the same location on Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 am. Internment, Millville-Nibley Cemetery, 100 North 300 East, Millville, Utah. His interest in breeding and genetics inspired him to complete the Dairy Herdsman program at Utah State University in 1980 and he was responsible for herd health and breeding for several large dairies in Texas and Utah .
