Ronald Ray Penrod

Our beloved Husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend Ronald Ray Penrod, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning December 1, 2013 at the age of 69. His life began in Globe Arizona on March 6, 1944 to Maurice Ray Penrod and Bessy Flora Adams. He was always early or late to everything his whole life including when he was born. His mom could not make it to the hospital so he was born in a house across from the old Coca Cola bottling plant. The first few years of his life were spent in several small Arizona towns. His Father was a meat cutter for Safeway. The lived in Ray, Globe and Prescott Arizona where his father died in the veterans hospital in 1948. Grandpa Adams came down to Prescott and moved Ron's Mother and her three kids back to Showlow. In 1951 his mother married W R Butler and he moved the family to Phoenix where Ron finished growing up. He attended such famous schools as Davie Crockett Elementary, Snowflake Union HS and Holdbrook high and graduating in 1962 from Phoenix Union. Ron entered the Army in 1963 and served in Germany at the 7th Army training center as an air traffic controller. Upon his discharge in 1965 he returned to Phoenix where he met and married Carol Ann Secrest. During their marriage, Ron and Carol had 5 children together. Jimmy, Jeffrey, Rachel, Sam and Seth. Ron next met and married Linda Jay Haynes in November 1979. Linda had one son Kyle Jay Haynes and then they added Sharla Ray and Jennifer Megan to the happy family. Ron worked many different jobs as his family was growing up. He worked as a grocery clerk, life insurance agent and a sales representative for heavy duty truck parts. He always came back to his greatest love, trucking. He owned his own truck at different times as an owner operator but was more successful working for various carriers throughout his life. Working for the the same company for 14 years, his whole division was laid off the same day that he was diagnosed with cancer. Ron will be remembered as a loving husband and father and a generous friend. Please take a few minutes and visit the loving slideshow tribute his daughter Megan has put together in memory of Ron on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TEqT0S1LJU
