Our loving husband, son, father, grandpa, brother and friend. Ronald LeRoy Sandstrom passed away February 16, 2014. Ron was born August 1, 1956 in Salt Lake City, to Leroy G. and Patricia Gunnerson Sandstrom. He married Carol Marie Hood on September 12, 1975 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Ron graduated from Granite High School in 1974 and the University of Utah in 1982 with a degree in Computer Science. He also minored in piano and organ performance. Ron held many callings in the LDS Church including stake high councilor, bishopric counselor, gospel doctrine teacher, scout committee chairman, scout master and varsity coach. He dearly loved working in the Young Mens' and scouting organizations. Ron enjoyed a long career in information technology and especially loved working for First Health and NuSkin. Ron is survived by his parents, wife, and son Christopher (Angela) West Valley City, daughters Katherine Walbom (Russell), Pleasant View, and Rachel (Nick), North Salt Lake, three grandchildren Anna and John Walbom and Nicole Sandstrom, brothers David (Susan), Murray, Keith (Carolyn), Pleasant View, and Michael, Salt Lake City, sisters Laura Bascom (Darby), Layton, and Tricia Pyke (Gary), South Ogden. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, and a sister, Sharon Jo Sandstrom. Ron will also be dearly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22 at 1:00 pm, Cobble Creek 4th Ward, 8176 S 5140 W, West Jordan. Friends may visit Friday, February 21 at the same location from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday prior to services. Interment will be at Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road. Special thanks to the nurses and aids at IHC Hospice for their kind and loving care.
