Shalane Mary Asher

Listen to Obituary

Shalane lost a brave and valiant battle against heart failure on November 21, 2025 in Millcreek, Utah.  She was born in Ogden, Utah, December 28, 1967 to V. Nerdin and Susan Christiansen.  She was married to Johnny Tipton Asher.

Shalane was proud of her Bachelors Degree from Westminster College in accounting and loved telling stories of her time there.  She worked as an accountant for Sinclair Oil briefly but her environmental concerns conflicted with her job and she used her skills for an educational non-profit.  One of Shalane's proudest accomplishments were to inspire her husband to step  away from using fossil fuels.  Shalane was so proud to have an electric car and more recently a heat pump to heat/cool the house.

Shalane was loving, thoughtful and selfless to those she cared about. Always thinking of how to make life easier for her husband.  Her mind was brilliant, always thinking of new ways to accomplish things.  Her husband's favorite memory is the times spent together just talking.

Shalane loved to do puzzles, solve number equations and spend time with Johnny watching Mammoth Hockey - she never missed a game on TV.  She loved her dogs, Bailey and Gracie who have passed on before her.  She is now in their presence once again feeling the love.

She is survived by her husband Johnny; step-daughters, Shalyce Alice Marie Asher, Skyler D. Asher; step-son, Adam Monroe Asher and her beloved cat and gift to Johnny, Boudica.  She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary Christiansen; grandfather, Percy Christiansen; Aunt Marilyn Christiansen and brother, Dale Nerdin.

A private family memorial graveside service is planned for June of 2026.
