Sheila Joanne Hopkins

Sheila Joanne Hopkins was born on May 30, 1947, in Fairborne, Ohio, to her loving parents, Richard C. Schmid and Vera E. Moon. She peacefully passed away on April 6, 2024, in Sandy, Utah.  On July 12, 1969 Sheila married Franklin L Hopkins and they enjoyed forty-eight years of marriage.  

Sheila's pursuit of knowledge led her to graduate from the Washington School for Secretaries in Washington DC. After her education, she made Ogden, Utah, her home for 40 years where she touched the lives of many with her kindness and grace.

Sheila will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her children: Christopher Lynn (Mary Ann) Hopkins, Tobin Lee (Jennifer) Hopkins, Julie Elizabeth (Jon) Johnson, Wendy Michelle (Jay) Van Dyke, and Brian Jordan (Rachel) Hopkins. Her grandchildren Sarah, Liam, and Molly Hopkins; Rebecca Hopkins; Julian and Jaxon Johnson; Ashley (Tim) Francis, Lexis (Anthony) Carrazco, Sydney Larsen, Thaddeus Dowdy; Mason Van Dyke; Ella and Sawyer Hopkins will always carry her memory in their hearts. Sheila was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Avalynn, Daxton, Lucas, and August. Sheila is also survived by her brother Bruce (Susan) Schmid who will hold her close in his memories.

She is preceeded in death by her husband, Franklin and her parents Richard and Vera Schmid.  

Sheila Joanne Hopkins' life was a testament to love and compassion. Her presence in the lives of those around her brought light and warmth to all whom she encountered.

The family would like express their deepest gratitude to the staff and care providers at Cedarwood at Sandy, Renew Hospice and the Mobile Medical Group.  With this wonderful team's support, Sheila's family was able to ensure the past couple of years were comfortable and healthy.  

She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.  May she rest in peace.
