Shirl Tanner, 74, of Woodburn, Oregon, passed away on February 15, 2026.
Born on December 12, 1951, in Tooele, Utah, Shirl lived life with quiet strength and determination. He valued independence and believed in staying true to himself. He had a quick wit and a dry sense of humor that those who knew him well came to appreciate, often delivered with a look or a well-timed comment that said more than words alone.
Hard work and family were at the center of his life. He took pride in providing and in standing firm in what he believed. Shirl showed his love in steady, dependable ways — through loyalty and consistency. Beneath his straightforward nature was a man who cared deeply and remained devoted to the people who mattered most to him.
He is survived by his wife, Kaylyn; his children, Greg (Candi), Debbie (Chris), Stephanie (Jim), CW (Miranda), Amber, Elysa (Tyler), Matthew, Morgan, Vanessa, Annika and Megan; his 22 grandchildren; and his 10 great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry forward his resilience and quiet strength. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois.
A viewing will be held at City View on Thursday, Febraury 26th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. A viewing and service celebrating his life will be held at City View on Friday, February 27th at 11:00 am, with a graveside service for immediate family afterward at Herriman City Cemetery. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his humor, and the love he had for his family.
