Shirley "Grammy" Mitchell

Shirley, who loved to be called “Grammy” by her grandkids, departed her loving family July 26, 2021.Shirley was born in Phoenix, Arizona on December 30, 1942 to Howard and Cloe Smith.

Shirley was mother to Keith (Nancy) Mitchell, Elizabeth (Hal) Henderson, and Ken (Ana) Mitchell.  She raised her children with love and devotion in Salinas, California with her husband, Ken.

Shirley was a loving homemaker until her children were in high school.  That is when she went to work at Alisal High School, Salinas, California and loved working with teenagers there.

Shirley served faithfully in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, one of her favorites was working with the youth, ages 12-18.  Her hobbies included dancing, modeling, reading, service, and spending time with her 15 grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by her eternal sweetheart Kenneth A. Mitchell, her parents, her step-mother Irene Smith, sister Sandra Ozosky, and step-brother Jerry Drake.  Shirley is survived by her 3 children and their spouses, 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Services will be  held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1745 N. 2300 W. Farr West, Utah, Saturday, July 31st at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the LDS Humanitarian Fund can be made .
