Sione Tutuila

September 12, 1986 — November 26, 2022

El Sobrante

Our brother Sione Etika Tutuila passed away in Utah on Friday, November 25, 2022 at the age of 36. He is survived by his parents, Fifita Vi & Penieli Tutuila; his siblings, Haumole Fonua, Sophia Naufahu, Kuateti Mataele, Fekeíla Tutuila; and his babies, Kalaneti, Stalini, Lizzy and Baby Frida. He is preceded by his paternal grandparents, Melemoónia Fononga & Fekeíla Moala and maternal grandparents, Tohuia Mailau & Vitolio Vi Tonga.

SioneTika, Tikaman, Teek was born at Summit Alta Bates Hospital in Oakland, CA on September 12, 1986. He was named after his uncle Etika Mausia. He was born, raised and schooled in Oakland, where he attended Sequoia Elementary, Montera Middle School, Skyline High School, Laney College and Weber State University (Ogden, UT). He started and played football all through high school, Laney College and Weber State. He married Kala Manu in the Oakland Temple but life pivots and they took different paths. Tikaman did find love again and spent the remainder of his life in love with Lone Livai.

SioneTika was his mother’s first born and ‘Princess’ of the family, who liked to dress fine from head to toe and was always seen wearing an Oakland A’s hat, unless he was working. Tikaman was a hard worker and entrepreneurial like his father and uncles. Teek was into fashion and was about to release his clothing line, Highsmen. SioneTika was a foodie and an undercover great cook who made the best apeleotai. Tikaman loved fireworks and was a professional pyrotechnics at the annual 4th of July firework’s show at FiveSeven. IYKYK!

As the oldest of 5, Tikaman led his siblings with love and high expectations because he wanted them to be successful. Although Teek didn’t have kids of his own, he loved and spoiled his nieces and nephews. Tikaman was a silent giant who was always on the sidelines or in the background helping and supporting loved ones and close friends. Teek was not one to be in the front, but his presence was felt with his beautiful eyes-closed smile, infectious laugh and unique dancing that his niece Lizzy has inherited. SioneTika was known for his one-on-one, “What’s good?” check-ins and when times got rough, he would say, “We all we got!”

Teek was loved and respected by all who knew him. Please join us as we celebrate Tikaman’s life.
