Tad Dee Hendricks

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, Tad Dee Hendricks, age 83, passed away March 15, 2013, in St. George, Utah, surrounded by family. He was born May 7, 1929, in Lewiston, Utah, the son of David Oluf Hendricks and Lettie Jane Baird. Tad grew up a hard-working Cache Valley farm boy. He married Maxine Lee on October 6, 1954 in the Logan LDS Temple. They were happily married until her untimely passing in 1999. Tad rejoined his eternal companion on her birthday, March 15th. Tad and Maxine were the proud parents of seven children, including three sets of twins. Their greatest joy and pride was their family. Tad served an LDS mission in Eastern Canada, was in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Korean Conflict, and graduated from Utah State University. His career was spent with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where he loved meeting and assisting farmers throughout Rich, Morgan and Weber Counties. His favorite hobbies were farming and gardening. He always had a green thumb and red tomatoes, and enjoyed sharing his harvest with family, neighbors and friends. Tad was an active member of the LDS Church throughout his life. He served as a Bishop in the Washington Terrace 7th Ward, where the family had lived for 35 years. After Maxine's passing, Tad was blessed to find love again, marrying Pauline "Dody" Marshall on August 18, 2000. Tad and Dody were inseparable companions until his passing. The family expresses love and appreciation to Dody for the joy she and Tad shared during their 12 years of marriage, and for the tender care she provided during his final illness. Tad and Dody spent summers in Layton and winters in St. George, and enjoyed a wide circle of friends. Tad is survived by his wife Dody, his seven children (six daughters and one son): Kathy Smith (Melven); Kaye Cazier (Jeffrey); Jan Brown (Michael); Julie Anderson (Kevin); Dixie Clausse (Ross); Sidney Hendricks (Carol); Susie Rowe (Kerry), 28 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Tad is also survived by Dody's six children: Cindy Breeze; Sherie Heaton (Lynn); Connie Furgeson (Nate); Kim Whittle (Russ); Rick Marshall (Robin); Wendy Overbay (Tony), and 22 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four siblings, his eternal companion Maxine, and a grandson, Benjamin Brown. A viewing will be held Friday, March 22, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah. Funeral services will be held at the Lakeview Ward Chapel located at 2510 North Church Street, Layton, Utah on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing prior to services from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at Washington Heights Memorial Park, South Ogden, Utah.
