Tonia Ann Hale Banks, age 61, was reunited with her husband and parents after she passed away in Manti, Utah, on December 31, 2012, following a battle with cancer. She was born August 28, 1951, in Snowflake, Arizona, to Quentin and Elaine Bryner Hale. She graduated from Snowflake High School in 1969 and later received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Brigham Young University. She taught elementary school for several years before starting a daycare in her home, where she loved and influenced many young children. She married Douglas J. Banks on Oct. 23, 1974, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He passed away in November of 2010. They lived in several locations, including Provo, Palmyra, Orem and, most recently, Mayfield. Toni loved her five children and four grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She had a wonderful sense of humor, which she maintained to the end. She was extremely giving and sacrificed for others. As a teenager, she took a job at the dentist office to help pay the dental bills for her family members. She was an active member of the LDS Church and joyfully served in many callings. She loved music and was very patriotic. She was a networker and was passionate about her business, which involved sharing alkaline water. Toni is survived by her children: Rebecca Jo Banks of Mayfield; Tawni Ann (Hyrum) Berg of Bremerton, WA; Douglas Jacob (Danielle) Banks of Provo; Brittney Lee Banks of Mayfield; and Melissa Joy Banks of Mayfield; four grandchildren and eight siblings. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Doug, and her mother-in-law, Joyce Banks. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 5, at 11 a.m. in the Orchard 1st Ward Chapel, 670 East 800 North, in Orem. Friends and family may call at the chapel Friday evening from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
