Some people leave this world, and some leave behind a legacy so full of love that it feels impossible to imagine the world without them. Our beloved Verna Rae (Turnbow) Rockhill was one of those people. She was born in Heber City, Utah, on March 26, 1942, and raised in Woodland, Utah, by her loving grandparents. Her journey led her to Kamas, Utah, where she found the love of her life, Allen Rockhill. They sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on January 30th, 1959, and began building the family that would become her greatest legacy.
She was loved, adored, and cherished by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love was genuine, and her presence had a way of making life a little sweeter simply by being in it.
To say that an era has come to an end hardly seems enough. With her passing, we say goodbye to a woman who helped shape our family, fill our memories, and teach us what it means to love deeply. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, a dear friend, and a beautiful soul whose influence will continue through every generation that follows her.
Her life was rooted in the things that mattered most: her family, her faith, and the simple beauties of God's creations. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she believed in her Heavenly Father, the promises of eternal life, and the belief that families can be together forever.
She loved the outdoors, especially the towering pine trees. She found joy in flowers and gardening, nurturing beauty wherever she could. She loved baseball, she loved Elvis Presley, she loved Coca Cola, and most of all, she loved her family.
She is survived by her children Pennie Davis, LeAnn (Barry) Rockhill, Rachelle (Darren) Struchen, Bart Rockhill, and Brett Rockhill, 19 grandchildren, and 34 great grandchildren. She is welcomed home by her husband Allen Rockhill, her son Steven Rockhill, her granddaughter Chelsea Martin, her parents Glen Turnbow and Jean Perry, her grandparents Franklin and Rowane Turnbow, and her Aunt Tessa.
Services will be held on Wednesday, October 28th at South Heights Ward 720 Nancy Drive South Ogden, UT. Viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM with the funeral to follow. Graveside will be held at the Marion Cemetery.
We wish we could have kept you here a little longer. We wish we had one more visit, one more conversation, and one more chance to tell you how very much you mean to us. Until we meet again, we will picture you surrounded by the people you have missed so dearly, with your beloved husband by your side, your son close to your heart, the beauty of heaven all around you, and perhaps Elvis singing in the background with a coke in your hand.
