“She Lived Her Life”

Virneda “Dee Dee” Delora Brooks was born on August 16, 1951 in Ogden, Utah to the late Frank and Oretha Brooks. She was called to her heavenly home on March 10, 2019 in Chandler, Arizona.

She graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber State University. Dee Dee was a trained and accomplished singer starting in high school, and displayed a distinct soprano voice. She was involved in multiple choirs and school plays throughout high school and college. She also sang professionally with a band from Salt Lake City, UT and toured multiple states as the lead singer. Virneda was a runner-up in the first Miss Black Utah Pageant where she sang the iconic song “I Did It My Way” by Frank Sinatra. Singing always led her back to her roots in the church. While in Utah she was a member of the local and district C.O.G.I.C choirs.

Dee Dee held positions with the Governor’s office of Utah, Job Corp, and her latest position was with Dillard’s.

Dee Dee loved spending time with her family and always held a special place in her heart for her young nieces and nephews. She thoroughly enjoyed movies, jigsaw puzzles, and she could never get enough of her favorite, pomegranate fruit.

When Dee Dee relocated to Chandler, Arizona, she was a member of Agape Fellowship Gospel Church and served as a licensed missionary.

She was preceded in death by her Parents; in addition to brother, Frank Brooks II; grandparents, Halsie and Virneda Owens.
