Margaret Frances Hansen

Our beautiful angel mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Margaret Frances Linton Hansen, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 2, 2021, in Holladay, Utah. Margaret was born on October 19, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to John Leroy Linton and Sarah Louise Drury.

Margaret is survived by her ten children, seven sons and three daughters; Debra (Bob) Ess, Greg (Susan), Brent (Deann), Shauna (Lorin) Grow, Roger (Julie), Chad (Lisa), Chris (Jenn), Jennifer (Ty) Weston, Brady, Colby (Heidi), 44 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Margaret grew up in Holladay, Utah where she just recently moved to, and had the blessing of staying just one night there before she passed. She said after selling her home in Cottonwood Heights, that she felt like she was “GOING HOME.”

Margaret married her high school sweetheart, Lee Hansen, on October 12, 1951 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on December 16, 1965, after having their first five children. She graduated from Granite High School in May 1968, almost 17 years after getting married.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Lee, her parents, and four grandchildren; Caleb and Jonas Pugh, and Jeffrey and Aubrey Hansen. Her surviving siblings are Louise Page, Tricia Jensen, John (Norma) Linton, and Jeannie (Dan) Workman.

Margaret’s most important work here on this earth was within the walls of her home. She worked and taught and served her children and husband with such fervor and dedication. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She honored her covenants. She had various callings in the church; RS President, RS instructor, Compassionate Service Leader, Visiting Teacher, Ministering Sister, cannery worker, and a Jordan River Temple worker. She LOVED being in the temple and even to the end would attend, sometimes several times a week. Her favorite thing was to be in the temple with her family.

Raising ten children, Margaret didn’t have much time for things outside of her family. But through the years she enjoyed crocheting, of which she left nearly everyone their own afghan. She loved working on her children’s histories, and has left binders and binders of pictures, notes, and memories. What a treasure she has left for all ten! She was always on top of everyone’s birthday and kept the mailman very busy. Margaret’s friends meant the world to her. Her social life was full of lunch dates and gatherings, even temple visits. Her groups of friends were from church as well as high school. They were such a support to her!

Margaret’s death was unexpected, but we all know that the Lord’s timing was absolutely perfect. She had worked hard her whole life to be organized and since her husband Lee’s passing, she was diligent in getting things in order. As she went through the process of giving her belongings away, to prepare to move in to her new condo in Holladay, it brought her tremendous joy! Everything was done, everything was ready for her to go meet her eternal companion. What a legacy she has left!
