Sherrie Michelle Roden

Sherrie Michelle Roden, 57, passed away at her home in South Ogden, Utah, surrounded by her family on July 3, 2021, after a very courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on December 11, 1963, in Ogden, Utah, the oldest of four children to Dennis and Judy Patterson. Sherrie married the love of her life, Wadell Roden, on June 3, 2016, in San Bernardino, California.  She attended Kearns High School, then later went on to Westminster College and Weber State University.  Sherrie was a store manager in retail for several years.  She then became an insurance agent for Farm Bureau Financial Services. She made lasting friendships and touched many lives along the way.

Sherrie’s big heart and outgoing personality allowed her to make friends easily. Over the years, she volunteered at Christmas Box House, Youth Impact, and the YCC as a victim’s advocate.  She most recently became involved in Stephen’s Ministries through her church.  She was extremely thoughtful, always watching out for others and prioritizing their needs before hers.

She was the happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She was the most amazing and devoted mother to her children and “Nana” to her grandchildren. Sherrie loved spending time with her husband, Wadell, traveling, attending church activities, and just having quiet evenings at home together.  In October of 2019, Wadell and Sherrie were so blessed to be able to fulfill her lifelong dream of visiting Greece.

This world lost a beautiful soul. She will be dearly missed and will live on in our hearts and our memories forever.

Sherrie is survived by her loving husband, Wadell Roden; her daughter, Harmony (Christopher) Lomeli; her son, Maximilian (Aubrey) Patterson; her stepdaughter, Bella Roden; her stepson, Elijah Roden; her grandchildren, Liliana, Olivia, Evan, and Millie; her parents, Dennis and Judy Patterson; her parents-in-law, Haywood and Ardalia Roden; and siblings, Shane Patterson, Ronni (Matt) Powell, and Kristi (Jared) Smith. As well as many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

A celebration of Sherrie’s life will be held at Christian Life Center Church, 2352 East Highway #193, Layton, Utah 84040, on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 11 am.

Sherrie and her family have been supported by the prayers, love, generosity, and kindnesses of remarkable friends, family, neighbors, employers, co-workers, church members, and many others. The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for her during her treatments, and the Applegate hospice team who helped her so much in her final weeks.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Sherrie’s honor to The American Cancer Society or The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
